McCain Asks Americans to Foot $300 Million Contest Prize Bill

John McCain is now offering contests and give-aways as energy solutions. No, I'm not joking. He wants someone to design an electric car battery that will "leapfrog" the current electric car batteries. The grand prize for such a design? $300 million. No word who he thinks it is that's going to be supplying the prize money. No, wait, he does say who should pay for it. From CNN:
"[The prize would amount to] $1 for every man, woman and child in the U.S. -- a small price to pay for helping to break the back of our oil dependency," McCain said during a town hall-style meeting at California's Fresno State University.
Not only are taxpayers paying for it, he thinks small children should also pay a $1. Okay, so that's hyperbole. Still. It gets better. Not only is McCain offering this grand prize of $300 million, he's also starting a Clean Car Contest! That's right folks! Come on down! If you get in the voting booth and vote McCain you too can win a prize on the Price is Right If You Don't Mind Paying Later! More from CNN:
McCain also called Monday for a "Clean Car Challenge" for U.S. automakers, hoping to spur them to develop and sell vehicles with no carbon emissions. The challenge would allow $5,000 tax credits to buyers of such cars, making those vehicles more appealing to consumers and thus easier to sell.
So you get that dollar back in the form of a $5,000 tax break. What a prize! I only have to go out and buy a ridiculously overpriced hybrid that the car manufacturers are deliberately making less of so they can drive the price up! Somebody tell me why this man hasn't been given his own game show yet!
