Senator Makes Racist Statement Disavowing Racism

There's a great piece on CNN today about the two campaigns preparing to deal with the racism that has already begun to emerge in the general election. Obama's campaign vows to fight hard against every attack. The McCain camp says it won't tolerate racism, but then Lindsey Graham throws out this not so race friendly statement:

"Every word will be twisted to make it about race," said Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina, a McCain friend and adviser. When he and others confront Obama on issues such as national security and the economy, Graham said, it will have "nothing to do with him being an African-American."
In other words, "Why do blacks always gotta make everything about race?" Thanks, Senator. That gives me a great deal of confidence the McCain campaign will keep things race free.

This goes with Obama's statement from this weekend:
“We know what kind of campaign they’re going to run,” said the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee. “They’re going to try to make you afraid. They’re going to try to make you afraid of me. ‘He’s young and inexperienced and he’s got a funny name. And did I mention he’s black?’"
There he goes again. Making everything about race.
