Gas Shortage Threatens 'Bama - Georgia Game

I'm not sure what's going on in the southeast part of our country (and whose ever really sure anyway why those people do what they do) but there is a gas shortage. The same kind of gas shortage caused by a massive hurricane, only this one was weeks ago. From CNN:
Gas shortages are afflicting drivers across the Southeast. Some of the problems were caused by Hurricane Ike affecting oil production and refining along the Gulf Coast, but empty gas pumps also are being blamed on the consumers themselves. A petroleum executive suggested that the football game between the University of Georgia and University of Alabama should be canceled this weekend because fans could drain all the gas in the Athens area, WSB-TV in Atlanta reported. "That gas needs to be used for people to go to work, and for people to take care of their families," Tex Pitfield, president and CEO of Saraguay Petroleum in Atlanta, told WGAU radio in Athens.
Needless to say, Uga, and the Governor of Georgia, "Sunny", say no way in hell they're canceling the game. Maybe they can buy some more gas supply with all the booster money they'll get this weekend.

There are many more examples of people running out of gas, shortages, and cities having to cut back on their operations in the Southeast. Why is one part of the country falling apart (where gas is concerned) and the rest safe and sound? Where's John McCain! Call off the debate, suspend the campaign, and get your ass down there to handle a real crisis!
